  1. Table 3 highlights the expansion and reorganization of the XCO branch under the subclass “chemical”. The original four subclasses are shown on the left. As of August 2013, v3.0, the branch has been divided into two major subcategories: “chemical with specified function” and “chemical with specified structure” and the terms which were previously direct children of “chemical” have been moved under one of these two. In addition to more closely following the familiar structure of the ChEBI ontology, the new organization facilitates browsing.
